How often do commercial telecom filters need to be replaced? It’s a common question for design engineers and those who are tasked with servicing and maintaining equipment, but the simple answer is… it depends.

In clean, controlled indoor environments like data centers or switching offices, it’s typically best to change filters 3-4 times a year based on a disciplined maintenance calendar.

For harsher environments, such as outdoor enclosures, or for highly active systems like those used in medical, military or telecom capacities, the frequency of changing filters is exponentially higher. In most cases, the need to replace filters in specialty equipment is dictated by maintenance sensors. When sensors indicate that temperature, pressure and air flow are registering outside of optimal operating parameters, it’s typically a good sign that it’s time to change filters. Replacements in these environments can and still should be performed on a regimented basis but it may take some trial and error to determine the optimal schedule.

Bottom line, filters that are loaded with dust and debris reduce airflow, which leads to inefficient system operation, and in some cases, equipment failure.

Two simple things you can do to minimize the risk associated with clogged filters are to change them regularly and make sure you always have an adequate supply of replacement filters on hand. Developing (and sticking to) a filter replacement calendar is the best way to ensure all systems and equipment function efficiently throughout the year. As for always having replacement filters readily available, feel free to contact us. TXMstore is a leading air filter supplier providing replacement filters for existing applications and new filter designs to support product development. We’re here to help you keep your telecom space clean and your systems running efficiently.

the-premises or -home (FTTx or FTTH, respectively). The Opti-Tip
connector is a hardened array connector designed to provide rapid connectivity
(for two, four, six, eight, or 12 fibers) in a durable, easy- to-install
design. The Corning connectors make installation quick and easy, as well as
watertight and weatherproof. Factory installation and testing insures reliable,

Bus Bars for Telecom rooms

In a typical Data
Center, you will often have many different ground bars in use through out the
facility. For example, in the electrical
room, you will not only have the green
wire low-impedance fault current path required, but you may also have a safety
ground system with multiple ground bars used to bond the various metallic
objects found within the room (electrical panels, conduit, air handling
equipment, fire suppression, doors, gates, fences, etc)

In the computer room, you will have a requirement for
a copper ground bar to be installed inside each computer server rack. TXM offers both 19” and 23” bus bars which can
be used on 2 post and 4 post racks. For
more information on the options of Rack Mount Bus Bars available on our e-store, follow this link below:
https://www.txmstore.com/rf-wireless-components/grounding/bus-bars/19-and-23-universal-bus-bars/

There are
also additional ground bar (s) mounted on the wall of the server room that will
be used to bond all the server rack ground bars together, along with the
conduit bonds, air handling equipment bonds, door bonds, UPS power supply,
etc. This server room ground bar (s) must in turn be bonded back to the
main ground bar in your Telco room, and back to the first service disconnect in
the main electrical room. There are typically requirements for dedicated 5-ohm or
less grounding electrodes that must be bonded to the server room ground bar (s). TXM offers various sizes of wall mount bus
bars for standard, TGB and TMGB series bus bars. TGB bus bars (Telecommunications
Grounding Bar Kit) provide a common grounding point within the
telecommunications room. The TGB is the attachment point for all
telecommunications systems and equipment in a specific telecommunications
space. Therefore, each telecommunications space through out the building
should have a TGB. These are typically installed on a wall inside the
data telecom room, allowing each telecommunications room to provide a common
point of connection for systems and equipment bonding to ground. TMGB bus bars(Telecommunications Main
Grounding Bar) are used as the foundation of the telecommunications grounding
system and serve as an interface between the building's service equipment
(power) ground and the telecommunications infrastructure. The TMGB also
serves as a central connection point for the telecommunications bonding
backbone (TBB) and equipment. There is usually only one TMGB per
building.

For more
information on the options of Wall Mount Bus Bars available on our e-store,
follow this link below:
https://www.txmstore.com/das-rf-components/grounding/bus-bars/wall-mount/

You may have additional ground bars used for the
bonding of the lightning protection system, back-up generator systems,
electrical substations, equipment chassis, and many more. All of these
ground bars and grounding systems must be bonded to each other in manner that
does not cause additional problems with ground loops, resulting in harmonics
and electrical interference.

In addition, TXM
also offers isolation rack adapter kits, which include the rack adapters along with
isolation pads, bushing nylon washers and screws. These can be used for additional ground
isolation protection when mounting telecom equipment onto the racks.
Shopping for ethernet cable can be sometimes a little confusing if you are not used to the various terms that are used for the different types of cable that are available.

One common point of confusion comes when trying to decide if you need 'Solid" or "Stranded" ethernet cable. So let us try to quell some of the confusion.

Solid UTP

Solid UTP Category cables have solid insulated bare copper conductors. These
cables are typically used in permanent and semi-permanent installations. They are
designed for longer distance horizontal and backbone cable runs, PoE (power
over Ethernet), and HD applications. Solid Category cables should not be
over-flexed, bent, or twisted beyond the cable recommended specifications. All
Cat5e and Cat6 solid UTP cables are designated with minimum bend radius for
performance standards. Proper cable installation is essential in order to
maximize the performance of the cable.

Stranded UTP

Stranded UTP Category cables have multiple strands (typically 7 strands per
conductor) of insulated bare copper conductors. These cables are typically used
for patch cords/cables connecting workstations; from wallplate outlet to patch
panel; and from patch panels to individual workstations. Because these cables
are more flexible than solid conductors, they are excellent for portable uses
and applications where repeated flexing is common.

Stranded Category Cables have a higher attenuation than solid category cables.
Depending on your application, you should restrict their use to short
distances. SCP recommends that you use stranded category cables for
applications under 6 meters/ 20 feet. We manufacture long length stranded Cat5e
and stranded Cat6 cables up to 100 ft/30 meters, but their use should be
restricted to non-HD applications.

Stranded cables are expensive to manufacture and as such are more expensive
than solid conductor cables for the equivalent length.

TXM sells both types in bulk and we also offer standard and
custom patch cables for all types of situations. In addition, we offer
high density patch panels.

Please visit our site for more Ethernet
